Jerry Zhou
CEO and Founder, Futrend Technology, Inc.

FUTREND’s founder Jerry Zhou has more than 20 years of experience in technical, management, and leadership and is very passionate in helping federal agencies, organizations and employees to achieve their mission success. He has led FUTREND to collectively define its core value and high performing culture, and business growth and strategies.

Since inception, he has been instrumental in leading the company in growth of capabilities, solutions and services, and supporting federal agencies and helping FUTREND employees. He remains closely involved in FUTREND’s vision, sustainable growth and strategic planning.

Jerry holds a bachelor’s degree in Applied Mathematics from Tongji University in China.

Yvonne Zhou, PMP
President

Yvonne Zhou has more than 20 years of proven experience in Federal contracting, including marketing, sales, consulting services and software application implementation.

Yvonne joined FUTREND in 2003, and with the founder, Jerry, has built the business from the ground up with impressive year-over-year organic growth. In her role as President, Yvonne provides the strategic direction of the company and oversees all management and operations activities, including strategic planning, infrastructure support, financial management and operations, as well as customer relations and service delivery. A servant leader with a proven track record of success in project management, portfolio management and contract management, she leverages her in-depth knowledge of Federal IT and financial requirements and methodologies to maximize Federal government agencies’ mission success and help employees achieve their full potential.

Yvonne holds a master’s degree in economics from the University of California, Santa Barbara and a bachelor’s degree in biology from Fudan University in China. She is a member of Project Management Institute (PMI), and Association for Government Accountants (AGA). She is a member of Women in Technology (WIT) and the Healthcare Information Management Systems Society (HIMSS), and a former member of the Association for Federal Information Resource Management (AFFIRM). She is also a founding member of the Industry Advisory Council (IAC) Human Capital Special Interests Group.

Passionate about making a difference and impact to the society, Yvonne founded Integral Healthcare Foundation to promote Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) and expand the healthcare workforce in order to improve population healthcare and quality of life. As a former board member of McLean Youth Soccer (MYS), she is actively involved in promoting hard work, teamwork, discipline and personal development through sports.

Thomas Zience
Executive Vice President

Tom Zience possesses more than 30 years of experience in information technology and has an impressive track record of successfully serving customers, leading business units, and growing businesses.

In his role as Executive Vice President at FUTREND, he is responsible for formulating internal business solutions and providing guidance in support of corporate operations and the successful delivery of contract and project requirements. He has experience leading executive-level functional departments and major business units within small and large organizations, and applies that experience to provide business operations management and execution expertise across all aspects of FUTREND’s operations.

Prior to joining FUTREND, Tom served in various executive and senior management positions in both government and industry. He supported various federal government clients within the DoD and the Intelligence Community, and also served as a federal government employee.

Tom holds a master’s degree in technology of management from American University and a bachelor’s degree in meteorology from Penn State.

Roger Lee
Vice President of Operations

Roger Lee has more than 30 years of leadership and executive experience that encompasses nearly every aspect of business operations, including planning, policy and business analysis, leadership development, program management, recruiting, human resources, proposal development, software development and information technology.

As FUTREND’s Vice President of Operations, he oversees day-to-day operations and aligns them with the company’s strategic growth and management goals.

Prior to joining FUTREND, Roger held several management positions, including Director of Business Operations, at BAE Systems, in support of operations in key business areas including intelligence, information technology, cybersecurity, mission assurance and other federal and civilian business lines. In these roles, he amassed extensive experience in strategic planning, business process improvement, program management and business development.

Roger holds a master’s degree in divinity from Duke University and a bachelor’s degree in Semitic linguistics and religious studies from Wake Forest University.

Gwen Shaffrey, CPA
Vice President of Finance and Accounting

Gwen Schaffrey has 20+ years of accounting and finance experience, with 15+ years of experience in government contracting. Gwen is a results-driven leader with a deep understanding of government contract accounting and finance, general accounting, and internal controls. She utilizes keen analytical insight, knowledge of government contracting, and a commitment to a team approach to drive organizational improvements and implementation of best practices. Leveraging her interpersonal skills, Gwen is accustomed to resolving complex issues and motivating staff to peak performance.

Over the course of her career, Gwen has grown from staff accountant and accounting manager, to Controller and CFO. Gwen has broad, hands-on work experience in public accounting firms, as well as small- to large-size government contractors, including INDUS and CSRA. She was a former Controller of SRA’s Business Unit as a result of their merger with CSC and CFO of Blumont, Inc, a 501(c)(3) organization supporting USAID.

Gwen has a bachelor’s degree in Spanish and a bachelor’s degree in accounting from West Virginia University. She is a CPA and an active member of the Virginia Society of Certified Public Accountants (VSCPA).
